about musical fidelity
Musical Fidelity was founded in 1982 in London by Antony Michaelson, a clarinettist and hi-fi enthusiast, and built its name on amplifiers and digital sources designed around high-current, high-headroom power delivery. The original A1 integrated amplifier became one of the brand's defining products, and the design approach carried through decades of British electronics. Since 2018 the brand and its intellectual property have been owned by Austria's Audio Tuning, parent of Pro-Ject, while retaining its British identity. The catalog covers integrated amplifiers, DACs, CD players, phono stages, and streaming, with the M-series running from the M3i integrated up to the M8xi flagship integrated amplifier, alongside the M6 DAC and the Nu-Vista line. The electronics lean on the high-current heritage that has defined the brand since the A1. In the US, Musical Fidelity is distributed by Harmonia Distribution. It has extensive Stereophile coverage across the A1, M3i, M8xi, M6 DAC, and Titan, with additional reviews in The Absolute Sound, What Hi-Fi, and Twittering Machines. It competes with Cambridge Audio, Rega, and NAD in British integrated electronics, and is a name any serious US audiophile dealer recognizes on sight. For a dealer, Musical Fidelity offers recognized British heritage across a full electronics range, with the M-series providing a clear price ladder from the M3i up to the M8xi. The brand's design identity remains rooted in London, now under Pro-Ject's Audio Tuning ownership.
