about primare
Primare was established in 1985 in Denmark by Danish industrial designer Bo Christensen, and is today based in Limhamn, in southern Sweden near Malmo, following its later relocation across the Oresund. The brand built its identity around a restrained Scandinavian design language and an engineering focus on clean, efficient amplification, including its UFPD Class D output technology and a modular approach that lets streaming and DAC stages be added to its electronics. Over four decades it has grown into a full-line electronics maker covering amplification and digital sources. The current catalog runs from the I15 and I25 integrated amplifiers up through the flagship I35 integrated and the pre/power separates, alongside network players and DACs such as the NP5 streamer and the matching DAC and CD-player components. Many models share a modular architecture so a customer can configure analog amplification plus network streaming in one chassis. In the US market Primare competes with the Scandinavian and European integrated-amplifier set, positioned where understated industrial design and built-in streaming matter to the buyer assembling a one-box system. US distribution runs through Kemela Contemporary Audio in Atlanta, Georgia, with a wide dealer network that includes Audio Advice and Audio Advisor. The Absolute Sound has reviewed multiple Primare components and listed models among its Editors' Choice selections, making it a recognizable name in serious US hi-fi. Design and production are handled in Sweden.
