about illusonic
Illusonic is a Swiss research-and-development and electronics company based in Greifensee, founded by Christof and Renata Faller. Christof Faller's background is in spatial-audio signal processing, and the company exists to turn that research into products: its devices combine immersive-audio processing, digital room correction, DAC, and preamplifier functions in a single chassis aimed at serious multichannel and immersive listening rooms. The core product is the Immersive Audio Processor (IAP), most recently the IAP 8, an advanced multichannel processor and preamplifier with HDMI that supports configurations up to 15.1 with as many as nine main speakers and six height channels in nearly any combination. The IAP integrates measurement-based room correction and bass management, and is controlled through Illusonic's own IAP Control app. It competes in the high-end immersive and surround-processing niche rather than the two-channel mainstream. US availability is direct from the Switzerland manufacturer, with no formal US distributor; calibration support is available through Designw Sound. Named-press coverage is substantial for the niche: Kal Rubinson reviewed the IAP in Stereophile's Music in the Round #64 and it appears in Stereophile's Recommended Components, with additional coverage from audioXpress (IAP 8 bench report) and Darko.Audio. The flagship IAP lands around $21,000, placing Illusonic with the most serious immersive-processing brands. Illusonic exhibits at HIGH END Vienna 2026 and ships to the US direct from the manufacturer. Products are made in Switzerland.
