about cardas
Cardas Audio was founded in 1987 by George Cardas in Bandon, Oregon, where the company still designs, builds, and ships every cable from its coastal factory. The defining engineering principle is Cardas's patented Golden Section Stranding — a conductor geometry that arranges varying strand diameters in ratios derived from the Golden Ratio (1.618), the same proportion Cardas applies to dielectric spacing, winding pitch, and conductor counts to suppress resonance and standing waves inside the cable itself. The company holds multiple US patents around the approach and has used it consistently across every product family for nearly four decades. The current line is organized into tiered families: Clear Beyond and Clear Beyond XL sit at the top as the reference statement; Clear, Clear Reflection, and Clear Sky cover the mid and upper-mid tiers; Parsec, Iridium, and Crosslink anchor the entry and mid-priced positions. Cardas builds speaker cables, interconnects (RCA and XLR), USB and Ethernet digital cables, phono cables, headphone cables (including reterminated runs for Audeze, HiFiMAN, Focal, Sennheiser HD-series, and others), and a deep accessory catalog of binding posts, RCA jacks, cable lifters, and the well-known Cardas Sweep Record and Frequency Sweep test tracks used in dealer setup work. In the US, Cardas distributes direct from Bandon to an unusually broad dealer network — competing head-to-head with AudioQuest, Kimber Kable, Nordost, and Transparent in nearly every serious two-channel showroom. Stereophile has carried Cardas in Recommended Components for years, and Herb Reichert's Gramophone Dreams column has reviewed the Clear, Clear Beyond, and Beyond cables across multiple installments. Cardas exhibits at HIGH END Munich and HIGH END Vienna 2026, and the company continues to be run by the Cardas family from the original Oregon location.
