about hse swiss
HSE Swiss is a boutique Swiss electronics maker founded in 1987 by Robert Huber, a 33-year R&D veteran of Studer, the professional tape-machine and console builder. The company applies that pro-audio engineering discipline to a small range of high-end consumer electronics, with phono amplification as the focus and longevity as an explicit design goal. The flagship is the Masterline 7 phono preamplifier, a dual-mono design built around twelve discrete Class A gain stages and two low-noise zero-ohm Class A head amplifiers. It is milled from a solid aluminum block with 20mm walls, fitted with stepped impedance, capacitance, and gain controls (up to 84dB) plus dual VU meters, and assembled from hand-selected Swiss-grade parts including ELMA, Goldpoint, NKK, WIMA, Neutrik, and Schurter components. HSE quotes a 30-year-plus service life. The Masterline 7 competes at the top of the phono-stage market with the most ambitious dedicated designs. In the US, HSE Swiss distributes through The Audio Salon in Santa Monica, California. Named-press coverage includes a HiFi+ review of the Masterline 7, a Stereophile manufacturer listing, and a feature plus a factory visit from Tracking Angle, which positions the brand for high-end, vinyl-focused dealers rather than the mass market. HSE Swiss exhibits at HIGH END Vienna 2026 and ships to the US through The Audio Salon. Electronics are made in Switzerland.
