The Alyson series is what JWM Acoustics is known for, and what reviewers tend to circle back to: a multi-way floorstander built around a beryllium tweeter and paper-cone mid/bass drivers in a heavily braced, curved cabinet that runs to several hundred pounds per channel in the larger AMT II and AML II configurations. The crossover is a first-order, minimum-parts network on point-to-point wiring with film caps and air-core inductors, voiced by ear over long sessions rather than optimized to a measured target. Cabinets are veneered in book-matched hardwoods and finished to a furniture standard, which is part of why the speakers tend to live in dedicated rooms rather than mixed-use systems. Jeff Miller, the designer behind the company, has kept the operation small and built the brand's reputation almost entirely on the high-end show circuit — Munich, AXPONA, Capital Audiofest, RMAF in its later years — usually in rooms partnered with ABSOLARE electronics and Aries Cerat front ends, occasionally with Kronos or TechDAS turntables driving the chain. That pairing has become a kind of signature: the Alysons are efficient enough (low- to mid-90s dB) to suit the low-watt SET and class-A tube amplification those brands favor, and the voicing leans toward tonal density and decay rather than top-octave sparkle. Distribution is deliberately thin. There is no real dealer network in the US sense; sales tend to go through a handful of high-end specialists or directly through the factory, and lead times run long. JWM is a boutique operation in the literal sense — low volume, owner-designed, owner-built — and the product line moves slowly, with revisions to the Alyson platform appearing every few years rather than annually.
