about linnenberg audio
Linnenberg Audio is the electronics brand of engineer Ivo Linnenberg, who began the operation in 1994 in Schwerte, in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region. The first product, a POWERDAC, set the company's focus on digital-to-analog conversion, amplification, and preamplification — a scope it has held for more than three decades, building a reputation among serious listeners rather than the mass market. The current line is named after composers. The Telemann DAC-preamplifier and the SATIE reference D/A converter with integrated preamp anchor the digital side, while the Vivace DAC and the Vivace 2 / Unisono pairing cover compact and reference duties; the catalog also includes monoblock and integrated amplification. The house approach favors balanced, discrete circuit design and careful power-supply work over feature-list breadth. In the US, Linnenberg is distributed by Well Pleased Audio Vida, run by Mark Sossa, which places the brand in front of dealers and reviewers who follow boutique high-end electronics. Review coverage is broad for a brand this size: Positive Feedback (Vivace 2 and Unisono), Headfonia (Vivace DAC), 6moons, and Audio Bacon (Telemann) have all run pieces. That puts Linnenberg in the specialist German-electronics conversation alongside names like T+A and Trinnov on the DAC side — known to committed dealers and the review community, if not a household name like McIntosh. Design and build are handled in Germany at the Schwerte operation.
