about lumin
LUMIN is the audiophile network-music-player brand of Pixel Magic Systems, a Hong Kong electronics manufacturer founded in 2003. The company brought deep digital-video and signal-processing experience to audio when it launched the LUMIN brand in 2012, and the streaming-DAC-and-renderer focus has defined the line ever since. The range runs from the flagship X1 down through the P1 streaming DAC, the network players and transports in the U-series such as the U1 and U2, and the more compact T- and D-series. LUMIN pairs these with its own control app and supports Roon, Tidal, Qobuz, and high-resolution local libraries, so a dealer can position a LUMIN unit as either a complete streaming source or a transport feeding an outboard DAC. LUMIN competes in the reference streaming tier against the likes of Aurender, dCS, and Auralic. US distribution runs through Source Systems Ltd, headed by Mark Gurvey, a channel serious American audiophile dealers know. The brand has earned multiple Stereophile reviews — covering the P1, U1, and S1 — alongside coverage in Positive Feedback and 6moons. Products are engineered and built in Hong Kong under Pixel Magic Systems.
