about pathos acoustics
Pathos Acoustics was founded in 1994 in the Vicenza province of northern Italy by Gaetano Zanini, Gianni Borinato, and Paolo Andriolo. The company exists to develop and spread a single amplification circuit: InPoL (Inseguitore a Pompa Lineare, or Linear Pump Tracker), a Class A single-ended topology that Pathos holds under worldwide patent. The design pairs a tube input stage with the InPoL output, producing the tube-hybrid character the brand is known for. The current line is organized around that topology. The InPoL Legacy and InPoL Heritage MkII sit at the reference end; the InPoL Remix MkII is the tube-hybrid integrated that anchors the mid-tier; and models such as the Classic series carry the approach down the range. Most units carry the brand's signature mirror-polished and machined-aluminum chassis work, which Pathos treats as part of the product rather than decoration. In the US market Pathos competes with other European integrated-amplifier imports in the boutique tube-hybrid space and is distributed through Harmonia Distribution, the Upscale Audio affiliate in La Verne, California. Press coverage is established and recurring: Stereophile has reviewed both the InPoL Legacy and the InPoL Remix MkII, with additional coverage from Twittering Machines (InPoL Heritage MkII) and SoundStage!. That track record places Pathos as a recognizable second-tier Italian import rather than a mass-market name. All Pathos products are designed and built in Italy.
