about diptyque audio
Diptyque Audio is a French loudspeaker maker founded by Gilles Douziech and Eric Poix, who have developed their planar-magnetic design since 2001. The engineering thesis is openly a refinement of Magnepan's dipole-panel approach: thin-film planar drivers with the bass extension that traditional panels struggle to deliver, built as full-range flat speakers entirely designed and manufactured in France. The line runs across panel sizes from the compact DP 77 up through the DP 107, DP 115, and DP 160 Mk II, topped by the Reference flagship. Each is a dipole planar panel rather than a conventional box speaker. In the US market Diptyque positions directly as a modern alternative to Magnepan, the long-dominant planar maker, while competing with other panel and electrostatic builders for the buyer who wants dipole openness with more bottom-end weight. US distribution runs through Fidelity Imports. The press record is substantial: The Absolute Sound has reviewed the DP 160 Mk II and the DP 115, Stereophile has covered the Reference, and Sound & Vision reviewed the DP 115, so the brand is well known to serious US dealers who field the planar question on the showroom floor. Design and manufacturing are handled entirely in France, panels included.
