T.H.E. Lone Star Audiofest is the smallest of the major American hi-fi shows, and that is the point. Founded in Dallas in 2005 by Pi Speakers' Wayne Parham and Norman Tracy out of an earlier DIY-builder gathering, LSAF spent two decades as a deliberately volunteer-run, near-cost-free counterweight to the trade-show ambitions of AXPONA and T.H.E. Show SoCal. In 2025, on its twentieth anniversary, Parham partnered with Emiko Carlin's T.H.E. Enterprises, relocated from the Embassy Suites Galleria Dallas to Round Rock, and added a professional operations crew — without, by the consensus of the post-show reports, surrendering the room mix that defines it. Where AXPONA hosts the Magico and dCS launches, LSAF is where Raven Audio, JWM Acoustics, Volti, GR Research, Audio Crafters Guild, and Whetstone Audio of Austin set up next to single-builder rooms and let the Friday open at a conversational pace. Norman Tracy, who has covered every edition for Positive Feedback, has called it a guaranteed stop “for great music and fun.” Thirty rooms, three days, one Embassy Suites atrium, and the DIY tradition that produced the modern high-end still visibly at the center of the floor.
